BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in recruiting, and what brought you to the Green Leaf team?
A: I started out as an admin in the industry but knew it wasn’t for me. I found recruiting intriguing and always had an interest in technology. When I was looking for a new opportunity, I reached out to Neil—we’d worked together before. After meeting the partners, I was impressed by their knowledge and how much they enjoyed the work.
Q: What keeps you here?
A: The team, the culture, and the expertise across the company. Everyone brings great energy and strong work ethic.
Q: In your career so far, where have you felt most successful or proud?
A: I’m proud of maintaining strong relationships and a broad network I can rely on. Staying connected has been key to long-term success.
Q: Are there particular types of roles or teams you love recruiting for most? Why?
A: I enjoy recruiting for technology roles—it’s always changing, and I’m constantly learning something new from candidates.
Q: How have your past experiences shaped how you approach finding top talent in the tech space?
A: You have to be a chameleon. Different personalities require different approaches. Building trust quickly is essential, and I adapt my communication style to connect effectively.
ROLE AT GL
Q: What’s one of the most rewarding hiring initiatives you’ve worked on at GL?
A: A SharePoint role we initially struggled to fill. While we didn’t place someone right away, another client ended up needing the same skillset, and it worked out. It was a great reminder that timing is everything.
Q: Can you share a guiding principle that shapes your approach to recruiting?
A: Ask a lot of questions and listen carefully. People enjoy talking about their careers, and how they explain things reveals a lot about their experience. Putting technical topics into everyday terms helps me understand their skills better.
Q: What do you find most fulfilling about connecting candidates with opportunities at Green Leaf?
A: Placing someone in a job is incredibly rewarding. You’re helping them take a big step forward supporting their career, their family, and being part of their journey.
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & LOOKING AHEAD
Q: What hiring or workforce trends are you most excited or concerned about?
A: AI is a great asset, but I’m concerned about overuse—especially with resumes. Attention to detail is key to spotting red flags.
Q: How do you handle situations where a candidate is a great cultural fit but lacks skills—or vice versa?
A: If someone’s not a culture fit, that’s hard to overcome. Skills can be taught, but personality and team fit are harder to train.
Q: How do you stay ahead of talent trends and continue to grow as a recruiter?
A: I stay active on LinkedIn, research new and evolving skillsets, and talk to candidates about what they’re seeing in the market. Trends like Microsoft Fabric are becoming more common, and it’s important to stay informed.
Q: What skills or qualities will define successful recruiters and candidates in the future of tech consulting?
A: For recruiters: the ability to pivot and adapt. For both recruiters and candidates: the ability to learn and evolve with the market.
PERSONAL: INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
Q: If you could have dinner with any figure from the world of technology, who would it be and why?
A: Steve Jobs because I would love to hear how he came up with it all. Jeff Bezos as well and how they have been able to develop their massive corporations over the years. It would be interesting to wrap your mind around how that works and how people were able to accomplish that.
Q: What’s the one gadget or tech you can’t live without?
A: My phone or my computer. My whole life is on there, notes, phone numbers, all of it. Anything that I need is on there.
Q: Can you share a personal success story or a particularly memorable experience from your career? What made it special for you?
A: My greatest successes have always involved clients with whom I’ve been able to build strong relationships. Trust takes time, but it’s the foundation of any good project.
Q: Outside of work, what’s a hobby or activity you’re passionate about? How did you become involved in it and why is it important to you?
A: I love cooking and gardening. Growing up, my grandmother had this huge garden, we spent a lot of time in, and I cooked with her constantly; she taught me how to cook. We made our own gravy from tomatoes in her garden.
Q: Green Leaf is a place where there’s a good balance of serious business and good-natured humor. Can you give a fun example of when you’ve either doled out or been on the receiving end of some of that humor?
A: The partners have such a tight knit bond; so listening to their banter. There is always contention around Nicholas Cage, which I find hilarious.
